Tony Lowes was born in 1891 in Newcastle-upon Tyne. He played for Newcastle United prior to the outbreak of World War One 16 times and scored 4 goals. He later played for Coventry City and Newport County before Coming to Yeovil as an inside-left. After 2 years as a player he was appointed player-coach for the 1928/29 season. His managerial career later took him to Barrow and Walsall, before he became a scout for Arsenal and eventually Norwich City. He remained at Carrow Road until 1972, and passed away in 1993, well over 100 years old.
